NATIVO & TRINITARIO
Peru is one of the world's leading cacao regions. Despite the dominance of hyper-productive CCN51-type cacao, we have been able to find a producer who takes great care in his selection, offering a generous range of native & trinitario hybrids characteristic of the region.
This cacao will introduce you to intense notes of mango, banana & mamey.
CONDORCANQUI & BAGUA
The Condorcanqui and Bagua regions of northern Peru are areas of exceptional biodiversity, rich in indigenous cultures and breathtaking scenery.
The region is traversed by the majestic Marañón River, a vital tributary of the Amazon, which meanders through lush forests and mountainous terrain, providing a spectacular backdrop for human activity and wildlife.
Condorcanqui, with its vast expanses of Amazon rainforest, is home to several indigenous communities, including the Awajún and Wampis, who maintain a close bond with the land and its resources.
LAND OF THE AWAJÚN TRIBE
The indigenous Awajun populations settled in the Condorcanqui & Bagua region 300 years ago.
They found vast spaces for hunting, harvesting forest products and developing their agricultural activities.
With the arrival of landless peasants from the Andes, these communities began renting out their land to migrant families to grow rice and coffee.
Small cacao producers often work in cooperatives, fostering a strong and equitable local economy, while preserving local traditions and lifestyles.
